Subject: Bug: hidden folders not hiding in Traveler
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Traveler
Technical Area: Functionality
Platform: ALL
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Always

Ever since the release of Traveler 8.5.3.1 my users on both Android and iPhone have a hidden folder that shows up in their "Personal Folders" in Traveler.

The folder is named "($JunkMail)" and is used to hold spam that is identified by a custom spam agent that we developed and have used for the past 6-7 years. The "($JunkMail)" folder was hidden, as it should be, prior to Traveler 8.5.3.1.

I found this APAR that appears directly related to the issue:

https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1LO64337

So, IBM, can we no longer purposely hide folders from Traveler by putting them in parenthesis? Seems like a bug to me.

Or, is it only supposed to be displaying those named "(text) name" and not just "(text)", i.e. only those folders that have some verbiage *after* the words in parenthesis are supposed to be visible, but those exclusively in parenthesis are still supposed to be hidden? If this is the intent, it isn't working and you created a new bug when fixing another one.

It's causing me headaches because I've had a couple of users delete the ($JunkMail)" folder from Traveler thinking it was a folder they didn't want. The folder gets re-added that night when the design service runs and puts it back into their mail file from the single-copy template. However, until that time all the spam that is supposed to go into this folder lands noplace in their mail file. It is visible in the All Documents folder, but not anyplace else, and thus the users don't realize they have hundreds of junk emails in their mail database for eternity (there is an agent that runs at night that handles emptying the $JunkMail folder, but doesn't work during the time that this folder is missing after the user deletes it).

For the time being I disabled the new iPhone capability of managing folders with Traveler just to prevent those users from messing it up.

Help?
